Central Australian Bushwalkers Association

Bushwalking to enjoy the central desert region! We are a friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable group of walkers who love connecting with the great expanse of arid lands, ranges, waterholes and trails. We welcome new members on our variety of walks that include well known as well as lesser travelled tracks.

See Walk Reports for recent activity, and Bushwalking Schedule for upcoming walks.

We grade all our walks using the Australian Walking Track Grading System. Walks in the Central Desert start at Grade 2. Every walker is expected to wear strong boots, sun protection and carry at least 3 litres of water and snacks.

Our walk leaders are volunteers who love to get out every Sunday and find the best views for morning tea and lunch! The walk leader carries a first aid kit and sat phone and has a pre-planned walking route.

If you would like to become a member and join us for walking that connects us to place and each other, view the walk schedule and contact the walk leader.

Walks are most Sundays throughout the year, with a short break in summer. Membership is $35 for the year, March to March. Experienced walkers visiting Mparntwe / Alice Springs can join a walk for a $20 fee.
